I think it's time to go to my parent's house and dig through my sister's old toys. None of my GI Joes were ever worth more than a car.

I thought this craze died years ago.

And anyway, wouldn't the spelling errors imply that they are Chinese knock-offs?

Do you collect these bears normally? What do they really sell for.

Do you collect these bears normally? What do they really sell for.

Did you seriously just ask me that?

Yes, I'm a HUGE collector of all things beany. Those bears are worth nowhere near that much. This is just an example of how someone buys these bears and never plays with them thinking they are going to be worth a lot of money down the road. A fine example, reliable, good looking, nice playing bear should run around the 25k mark. Most that have been kept and not played with suffer fur problems. The fur used was considered advanced at the time but doesn't like to sit in a box. Many bears have fur in various stages of deterioration.

There was a collector in North Carolina who retrofitted the fur covering with a more economical American made fur, but this caused a lot of negative reactions in the kids who played with them, not to mention destroying any future value the bears may have. Many kids died horrible deaths as a result of that hack repair and it was a dark chapter in the beanie history.

Today though, beanie values have slightly increased but not enough to keep up with inflation. My particular bears have all had the stuffing replaced with stage II foam...which provides much more plushness to the bears when I cuddle with them and while that may elevate the value to some, beanie purists and pontificators do not consider it an advantage.

This bear is just an example of someone who does not realize the market for beanies and thinks he has a golden ticket.

Just an FYI, I've heard of this collector in NC. Real nut job that one...I've heard his bears have been known to spontaneously combust. Silly little cotton bears...

Just another example of a guy who puts his bear in a box 20 years ago and then expects it to be worth a fortune today. "Played with well when boxed" - that old chestnut again. He doesn't mention that the fur will need specialT cleaning and the paws will need replaced as the little pads will probably have dry rotted sitting in that box.

Didn't that English guy buy all the spare eyes and limbs a few years ago and is now trying to market and electric bear???

That's a 7 grand bear at best.

I have a TON of these in storage. Plus a lot of those Princess Diana bears. My mother and I were HUGE collectors back when Beanie Babies came out.

Well then sir, if I were you I'd be dusting off the old storage boxes and making an eBay account.

If people are pying this much for nothing, I have some useless old stuff at my parent's place I can let go for a mere 100k, call right now and I'll slash the price to only $50k.
