Bash me if this has been posted before..
Couldn't find it on the search tool.
So here it is:

First X-Frame was GM's release back in 1957 with their 1964 Buick riviera carrying it:

So Lotus didn't go to far off their designs to create the Delorean frame..

I always thought it was based on the Esprit, but the Elan's looks much more like the D's

Wow, the Elan's basically looks like a backwards DeLorean frame. Many of the classic car books I grew up cited the DeLorean using a frame design similar to the Elan's... I always figured that was misinformation. Looks like they were right after all.
