Chris Parnham posted this a few days ago of one of the first cars being loaded on the first ship at Belfast docks. Perhaps even the very first car driving up the ramp - 00899.

Then I noticed the Audi Coupes already on the ship and I have to say I was irrationally surprised that our cars were sharing a ship with other cars. Of course they were, that's the transatlantic shipping business.

I wonder what other marques shared the ships with our cars?

The ships must have trawled all over the world picking up and dropping off various makes & models of cars, before making its way to Belfast and then on to America, before picking up more cars and and going else where with more cars etc

That is such a great photo. If I was the owner of 899 I'd want that hanging on my wall.

The VIN registry shows the owner as living in Prosser,WA.

Anybody know him?

How cool is it to have his VIN number with an historic picture like this one :)

Love this photo (and the other historic ones).

I cannot recall - is there an overarching shipping history of the VINs that made their way to the States? I thought there was, or at least one for some of the VINs.

I'd be very intersted to know what dates and boat my car came over on.

Any DeLoreans preserved out there with their original shipping foam? That is a great photo.

Not that I know of, but if you look closely on many cars you can still see marks in the paint where the attachment tape was left on for many months in the storage lots.
