Nice RHD story.

Looks cool. They didn't make a big joke of it, which was nice.

Stay tuned!

Hope somebody will tell us whether the car hauler seen in the teaser clip managed to go slowly enough so as not to blow the rear louver off the car during the rest of the journey.

For those who have not got that message: Never haul a DeLorean tail-first at any kind of speed.

Or take the rear louver off first or rope it down and be sure the engine cover and hood are both latched if you do.

There was a 'strap' running over the top of the car on it's main journey back to the workshop. Any clips of it driving were it is not on were just done for the programme. This is the full thread over on our forum about the programme and series: http://www.deloreans.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=4949
The car with the BAK 2 1T plate is mine, this was used for a lot of promotional/teaser/trailer/night time shots for the programme. I apologise now for one set of door lights not working!

They've been a long time working on that car! I remember we supplied them with our now world-famous Lower Ball Joints in December, along with some other parts...

Wow, thanks. I could not stop watching until I had seen it. Really nicely done.

I now have the urge to watch "Life on Mars" and "Ashes to Ashes" again. Philip Glenister is really an icon.

Thanks for the link Mike. Great quality video. Other than a few minor incorrect details (as always) over-all, it was a great DeLorean show.

Is he going over the car with WD-40 towards the end? Do people use this as a cleaner or an actual polish for their cars?

IIRC, Chris N. uses whatever is on hand for a "whetting agent" to help highlight the area, to verify completeness
of repair and refinishing. WD-40 or SS Polish can be used during final blending with correct 3M Scotch-brite pad.

Hi Rich, I saw the Love of Cars and your ride in it - suppppper cool! Question; What is the correct 3M Scotch-brite pad # to use for final blending? I know delorean.com sells a grey one (no mention of the 3M #) and Hervey sell's a brown one... kinda lost here and hesitant to start using either of them w/o some input on this... thx - Brian

Hi Brian,

The following are the type I have been using for the past decade (and the one's Chris N. uses when he is here).

Scotch Brite Pads: 3M #7446, Coarse – Dark Grey (available through a number of different suppliers found online)

Really great presentation of the car, and the man. I too cringed at the flatbed shots, and then again when all of those wet leaves stuck to the front screen with the cars in formation.

Was the car really recalled twice? I assume one of these was the famous front end recall.

I felt that most of the story was accurate. But if I didn't know any better after watching the program, I might think JZD invented EFI for the DMC-12.

Never fear. I know better.

Recommended this to a few friends who wanted to know more about the car. Thanks for posting. Always a treat to see the D Rex. The distance shots in motion are surreal.

Oh and, was it a Wooler Hodec conversion?

Not a factory one no, however it's so similar we believe it was done either by WH after the demise of DMC or by WH staff. Rack Etc is all correct. Because the history of the car is a bit sketchy it's a bit difficult to know.

As you now know Domi, something we created with Haynes for the programme, for anyone who has not seen it yet hears the topic on our forum: http://deloreans.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5338 We also have the iconic image from the Haynes manual book fronts available on T-shirts as well: http://deloreans.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5336 or through Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261521111825?var=&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Yes, really nice poster of the car.

I just watched this whole episode, and really enjoyed it! Not too many BTTF jokes, well researched, good footage, and good personalities. They were fair with the car and JZD. Even got an interview with Kathryn. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the one guy go from curmudgeon about the car to giddy schoolboy at the end. Haha.

Now I have to watch the other episodes.

When I was over in England earlier this year, I saw an episode that featured another oft-maligned car, the Triumph Stag. They were similarly respectful and enthusiastic, and I was really impressed by the show. I'm glad to hear they treated the D the same way.

I got a text from a friend in the UK about a week and a half ago, saying he just saw the replay of the show, during Prime Time, back on Sunday, Sept. 14th.

The reviews have been generally favorable, but unfortunately, some old myths still persisted in the show, even though they could have been easily corrected.

True. I guess I'm just so used to hugely gross inaccuracies about the car and JZD, so when a show like this only has a few I'm pleasantly surprised!

Over the holidays, I was doing a little surfing and I came across a few Behind-the-Scenes video clips of the D Rex,
made into animated GIF's, that were filmed during the For the Love of Cars - DeLorean show in December 2013.

http://auto-elegance.tumblr.com/post/86916554200/bloody-hell-its-a-bloody-delorean-monster-truck

I could identify the video shoot by the type and number of Go Pro cameras that were attached to the D Rex and
the lack of leaves on the trees in the video shots. It was 70 degrees that day and only 7 degrees, 48 hours later.

Not sure who shot these video clips or who posted them.
