I crawled up under the dash to try and find out why I feel hot air on my legs and I think I know why. There are wires going through the Fiberglass tub without a (is Grommet the correct word?) around them. I pulled out some degraded rubber that may have been the old one. It was nothing but powder.

What do I need there and how do I fix it? for now I think I'm going to stuff a rag around it until I figure out what it is and how to fix it. I do not want to unhook the entire wiring harness to place a grommet there.

This looks like it might be the part http://store.delorean.com/p-7159-grommet.aspx

The best way is to disconnect the wiring, pull the wires back, insert the grommet, and push the wire back through.

However, you can slice the grommet (in a line from the center outwards) which will allow you to fit it without removing the wiring. It won't be just as tight a fit, but certainly much better than what is there at the moment.

I used a can of expanding foam to seal that up.

I thought about that but figured you could never "undo" that:) What do you think would I ever have to?

No, that's the grommet that goes through the tub next to the washer reservoir. The one that has gone missing looks like a bag of foam and is long gone. You just have to make something work as you have discovered.

I don't think it is the part you found. It is rather http://store.delorean.com/p-7184-main-harness-bung.aspx and it seems to be just a piece of foamy stuff with a cut to seal off the hole. You might have an old "pool noodle" which seems to look the same apart of the color and length. 27950

You are correct, Dave describe that part exactly but, he said they are no good off the shelf they are 30 years old and already deteriorated before you install them. At DCS I'm going to be crawling around looking at everyone else's car to see what they did.

I can also feel the warmth of my car after driving for a while an dalways wondered where it comes from. Thanks!

Wow - there's a part that I never know existed as a separate part.

Just get some foam and wad it up and stick it in the hole. if you want to get fancy put the foam into a small white plastic bag first and then jam it in.
