Flu vaccines are now available: It is not too early to get your flu shot. The CDC recommends getting vaccinated as soon as possible as it takes several weeks to build up the antibodies. The shot does not wear off, and the benefits last the entire flu season until next summer. All children, pregnant women and adults of all ages are recommended to get the flu shot. Those who are older than 65, have chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, lung or heart disease are especially at risk for influenza and secondary conditions such as pneumonia and should get vaccinated immediately to insure protection.
