Has anyone got the template for correct installation of a dead pedal?
Here are instructions and template for the Dead Pedal installation which I hope are useful to you.
Robert
Belfast
VIN #3915
Thanks!
These weren't stock? My car came with one and I removed it. I'm 6'4" and it was in the way of me getting my left leg straight, it was actually a hindrance because my foot would get caught on it when trying to get my left foot back on the controls as I was resting it on the bulkhead.
I wish the PO hadn't installed it since I now have a slit in my carpet, for now I taped it shut from back side of the carpet.
Had no idea it's an aftermarket piece. Or is this one of the evolving changes?
It is the latter, a running change. Early-VIN cars such as the OP's and mine were not equipped with a dead pedal. At some point it became standard in all DeLoreans. As I recall more D's have it than do not have it.
The VIN for yours indicates the dead pedal was attached at the factory, not something a PO tacked on.
Interesting, thanks! I've kept it in my drawer of spare parts so the next person to get the car will have the choice whether to mount it or not.
Made my own footrest with an aluminum bar bent
in a u-shape the same height as the pedals. Slipped it
under the carpet, and screwed it to the floor. The shape
of it allows you to put your foot on it or under it.
Further to when the change was implemented, the Concours manual mentions it as being the first 1982 car (10001).
