What exactly does it mean to be "powder coated and then machined"? Educate me.

When the wheel spins on the lath to be machined so you have the machined finish on it the lath misses the low spots. So i had them powder coated first, machined to bare metal and then clear coated.

I dont know about the susceptibility to chipping, but i suspect the subsequent clear coat helps prevent that. The one thing that is less than ideal is the wheel cap does protrude about a half millimeter and the center face does have, almost like microbubbling. (The machinist reffered to it as off gassing during the casting process) you only notice it on really close inspection. I can get some real close ups when i get home from the holidays, if you are curious.

Nice wheels Joe. Hard to find a place that will do more than the lip and the face of the turbines. Your place did the center too. Would love to know the name of the place that did those. I have some machined ones, but not the entire rim. Let me know. Thanks!

My car has a top tier sound system (for 2006) including a Genesis Profile 5 amp hidden behind the parcel shelf. The only clue is a cutout for the fan.

I knew this day of reckoning would eventually come. My hood latch cable finally broke. I tried to fix the existing one before, but it was so frayed I could no longer thread it into the set screw. Anyway, based on a previous forum post, I decided the replace it with a bicycle brake cable. It worked out fantastic. There was actually enough material to make 2 hood cables. I even put a little solder on the end of the cable where I cut it, to prevent future fraying.
