Chris, is your car with you in Japan, or did it stay behind?
Dangermouse,
I chose not to bring my car to Japan, so it's with my family (my Dad is
looking after it).
A few reasons why I made this decision:
1. Japanese car laws are pretty stringent. They must meet certain requirements
like emissions test, pass a JSpec, possibly have some modifications made on
certain areas of the car. Then, there is the insurance, JCI, AND road tax on
top of it. You'd spend a good $3-$5K on this easily or more ::shudder::.
2. Japanese roads, while well-maintained from what I've seen, are much
smaller than American roads. The traffic is pretty bad as well.
3. Parking areas are either a pain to find or much smaller than what we're used to.
4. There are tolls on practically every highway.
Sucks, because I miss my car so much, it hurts. :( The upsides are that the train system here is probably the best in the world, and you can visit almost everywhere in Japan. The people, in addition to being pretty good drivers, are very polite and helpful, and auto theft is much less likely to happen (some people run into the convenience stores here with their cars unlocked and still running, but no one messes with it!).

Likewise, Mike!
For those out in VA, I know Jim D posted that there wasn't too much concentration of Ds in one area, so it's difficult to have activities. How can we change that? Any ideas? Hope I'm not getting too ahead myself. :-D

Hey everyone!
As some already know, I'm not in the VA area just yet. My orders don't allow me to detach until December, and I'll be spending that month with my family and getting my car ready for VA.
I'll be arriving in VA early January. Can't wait to meet everyone!

Here's a question....... How has the most Deloreans per mile? USA or UK?
I'd guess there are 5000 in the USA (correct?) and about 300 in the UK. Who's gonna do the maths
Ok, I'll do it then!
How (not who) many Deloreans remain in the USA?
USA...... 3,800,000 square miles and ???? Deloreans = One per ___ square miles.
UK........ 94,000 square miles and 300 Deloreans = One per 313 square miles.
Noooooo! I hate maths! But I'll try anyway.
Offhand, I'd say more Deloreans per square mile in the UK, although more in the US overall.
Hey guys!
I'm finally here!!!
