Got fooled into thinking draining coolant out of the engine was an easy job. My dad's garage and I won't be freezing anytime soon. Also realized I had rented the wrong torque wrench and had to retorque everything. Needless to say I will let someone else do the next coolant flush.
Changed out the idler pulley bearing at work over lunch. The contractor that I tried to borrow tools from inexplicably and very conveniently had circlip pliers in their toolbox even though they're just welding pipe. I fitted in back in after work and now I have AC again. I was somewhat worried it would have all leaked out over winter.

Decided to remove the tank cover and clean it up and paint over it with POR-15. Guess this is what happens after having a brake fluid leak many, many years ago by some previous owner...

Tonight I swapped in all new bushings for the transmission shifter linkage. Found a nice rat's nest just below the shifter boot (minus the rat), poor rat probably died 20 yrs ago!
To replace the bushing under the shifter, did you have to disconnect the cable from the bellcrank assembly in the middle of the car? I've heard that it can be done without disconnecting the cable, as long as you're just changing the bushing and not completely removing the shifter from the car.
Ya I just removed the bolt holding the pivot fork down and it was able to be rotated up 90 degrees while still connected to the cable. Just left it there out of the way so I was able to slide the shifter mechanism up to get the last bushing replaced...after vacuuming up all the rat's nest!
Found out why I was overheating during the St Paddy parade
one of the hose clamps was completely loose under the W pipe.
Ordered some supporting parts for my upcoming LS swap.
