Go to your nearest local bicycle store and get a brake cable ferrule (or several if you're not sure what size you need, they're really cheap). You can crimp it on carefully with a set of wire dykes.
As for the rest, I modified an 87 Corvette lever-style TPS to be actuated by the spring inside the spool, but I was also looking for a better way to do it. I picked up a throttle body + TPS off a Volvo 850 and planned to cut the shaft off the throttle and have it welded to the center of the DMC spool, then suspend the Volvo TPS from a bracket. Never got farther than the parts though.
