That is it. Pull on it from the end and it should pull out like seen in the photo I posted. You can then disconnect it. It may also just unplug as you pull on it without the whole connector and blue wire coming out. Either way is good.
So my blue wire comes out the bulkhead and goes into this thing, what is it?

Silver box is the “lambda” ECU. Black box with two plugs is the idle ECU.
I'm trying the test with the sensor unplugged, seems like it idles a little choppy but the valve is buzzing. How hot does it need to get? Up to the unmarked white line?

It got up to the 220 line and I never heard it stop buzzing but now I've got another problem. My cooling fans didn't come on. :banghead::banghead::banghead:
NOW what?
(Just tried it again and they still don't come on. When I put the a/c on they finally did. Is it the otterstadt? Thr coolant lines by the radiator are stone cold.)
The sensor was in the pipe but the connector was unplugged. I was trying to do the test Nick suggested to see if the frequency valve buzzed when the engine was hot and rule out an electrical issue.
Engine bay hoses were hot, otterstadt is pointed down & connections seemed ok.
