Yeah, sorry - I wasn't saying anyone here was trolling! Just the guy on BAT who always says something like "Perfect DeLorean, if weren't for that fender antenna. That's really gonna bring down the...
I think the conversation on the BAT auction spawned from that one guy's usual comment about fender antennas.
Can someone explain his habit of posting that comment? I gather he's trolling, right?...
Here are some things I don?t hear recommended as often which I?ve found during my searching for squeaks and clunks and rattles (oh my). But check the usual suspects as well. There are few threads...
Hello all! I’m starting a new thread on the topic because I now know it is unrelated to the crack discussed here: https://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?2680-Crack-In-Rear-Firewall
My car would...
I attempted a fiberglass patch at that spot. I think I did a solid job. But no impact on the noise.
Perhaps I'm just being obsessive and need to understand that fiberglass cars make these creaks....
It's back.... :(
Took a little longer but seems like your same scenario, Wolff.
Do you have any tips for the repair you did to the fiberglass? Any "after" pics, by chance?
I'm thinking of...
Thanks!!
This is perfect for driving Dave's Idle ECU inside the car. Is there someplace this circuit surfaces itself in the engine bay, so I can mount the relay close to the idle microswitch?
...
Ran your experiment: yup I get it now! Idle motor is always doing it's thing. I misunderstood that.
So back to your 2011 idea (only took me 11 more years to come up with it :) :) ). Why not engage...
Thanks for that additional clarity!
Oh jeez, this idea MUST be shady. Look who suggested it years ago :) just found this old thread reading up on mechanical v vacuum advance.
...
Someone talk me out of this shady idea for a temporary improvement :)
Wire up a relay to disconnect the idle microswitch when the AC is on.
DeLoreanGo is FAST.
The new idle motor did improve the Hunt-with-AC-On somewhat. It still hunted some, but I think because it is clean and new it responds faster - the result is the min and max...
Perfect! Thanks Andy!
Waiting on a new idle motor to see if that helps. Will investigate vacuum leaks after that.
I am now dreaming of a winter project of a new exhaust and getting kjet fully...
Lambda is on the list! It just doesn't directly effect my enjoyment of the car, so it was lower than some other things.
The car runs smooth as heck... after warmup and with the AC off :) :)
Thanks David T! For better or worse, I won’t be getting lambda operational anytime very soon. My car’s had an old aftermarket exhaust for years with a rusted-in o2 sensor. Until I’m ready to...
Thank you so much!
The one I'm seeing online for a b28f has a L shape to the in/out ports - instead of straight thru like DMC. Is this the one you prefer Dave M? Do I need some different rubber...
To restate more clearly:
With the AC off and the idle microswitch working properly, the car hunts only during warmup and then settles in at ~750
With the AC off, the car idles at 1k ONLY when...
Even with the idle micro switch open? (Disconnected, not completing the circuit even when the throttle is closed)
Thanks David!
I'm still debating how fancy I wanna go with the smoke test.
-Does anyone have any recommendations for a vacuum smoke testing product?
-Where is the best place on the DeLorean...
Edit: Vacuum switch, not thermotime
How could make such a mistake when these things are so named so clearly :)
Hello! I’ve done some searching to find anyone with this particular symptom – and I didn’t turn up anything that was quite like this. In case it matters, my O2 sensor and Frequency Valve are...
My front suspension is 100% DPI. Rear is mostly DPI, trailing arms and upper control arms are factory.
Thank you both! I may actually be experiencing two issues. A bit of play in the steering shaft and perhaps the need to toe in a little. They probably add together to make it feel worse.
The...
I've combed this thread and I can't find if anyone directly answered one of the original questions. Over what distance is the .12" of front toe measured? 14" of rim or 23.2" of tire or some standard...
I purchased these 5/24/2019 and they now have just under 4,000 miles on them.
They are from the manufacturer General, Altimax Model 195/60r14 front and 225/60r15 rears. One of the rears had a nail...
Welp - unless I've fallen victim to the same red herring: I MAY have solved my creak. As you suspected all those years ago, it seems it was the crossbrace.
I first loosened just the passenger...
