I ended up figuring it out. It's tough because the groove is so close to the circular mark on the crank shaft I kept missing it.

I spent the day going back into the valley to be sure.

Okay so I'm also talking to josh on this.

So at one of the notches you'll see a round hole and just a tad beyond that is a "flat head" type cut in the crank shaft. You want the flat head type...

Which notch is it on the pulley? How do I know which is 1 and 6?

Where does the plate line up with the crank pully?

No I didn't see any loose material.

I actually hated this job. I found it very difficult to get the hose on the barbs/nipples. The hose is narrow so it's a tight fit. I greased it with its own fluid which helped a bit.

I cannot see how it would adequately let fuel pass through, but ill ask Toby.
