Roughly the same price if you don't have one to return, the Ultima R612473B also works: https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/ultima/ultima-starter-remanufactured/oat0/r612473b?q=ULT+R612473B&pos=0

Per this document, it seems it is now legally established fact that the things hanging off the back of the BTTF car are "thrusters", and not vents like we all assumed. This explains how the car got...
Thanks Bill, that's great to hear. I am just trying to reconcile an estimate I got about a year ago from a conversion company (240 hours) which was for some mix-and-match components for...
That was very informative Bill, thanks for making it. It's so much easier to understand when seeing it in 3D rather than the 2D pictures in the workshop manual.
When looking at the wiring video, I...
Thanks! My desire to remove it is mostly due to it being connected to the throttle cable. Given it was malfunctioning, I worried it was a safety risk. But this voltage quirk was uncovered as I began...
Interesting about the fuel pump! My car has a Carter P60424 fuel pump from '81 Volkswagen Jetta, which was noted as looking small by a DeLorean tech but seems to be working OK since it was installed...
My previous owner installed a cruise control system which doesn't have any identifying branding on it but my best guess is it is the AudioVox CCS100. It never worked since I owned the car, so a while...
Perfect, thank you! And yes, for the insulation, I will look for a clever trick someone has posted a video or diagram about.
If a car already had an installation with the "vampire" (or "T-tap" I think they are called) clips, is it as simple as cutting off the spade and T-tap and soldering that wire around the straight...
I don't know how to tag here, but I think @jangell mentioned that he met someone recently with this swap.
Test scenario:
- Jumpered the Blue/Black to the Black on the otherwise empty Hot Start Relay.
- Disconnected the white/yellow wire on the ballast resistor.
Nothing comes out of the Cold Start...
I have not :-) I am new to all of this, but thanks to the manual I think I can pick it out of a lineup now. I've only ever done simple and purely-electrical stuff so far. This will be my first step...
When cold, my car takes a long time to start. It was 3-4 seconds with the original Paris Rhone starter, it's like 10 seconds now with the Eagle Premier starter. (It was my mistake to replace the...
That is a good suggestion, thanks Dave. I will try that with the pin. And regarding the crimp, I may be able to eyeball that or wiggle-test it.
EDIT: Actually on the crimp side of things, I...
Eyeballing the connector and the extremely minor movement that led it to go from Not Working to Working also makes me wonder if the loose connection is further down the line of the white/yellow wire....
Wiggling the bulkhead connector actually worked! The car started after I wiggled it.
I notice that the male end of the red connector (which contains the yellow/white wire that is causing me all...
Sorry, I did mean to provide some additional info. Yes I tested the relay and socket and the white/yellow wire female spade does not have ground (like I think it should) when I am having starting...
Joe's issue was that the car would start in Neutral but would not start in Park... but what if it won't start in either Neutral or Park? Would that indicate it might be the cam or microswitch?
This appears to be one of the best deals I've seen in about a year of watching cars go up for sale, if it is indeed running: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/354008397290401/
The fact...
Thank you!
The light indicators make sense for the gears, thanks for this inspiration! If I wanted to make an indicator for Park/Neutral, would I tap into the yellow/white wire?
EDIT - I would probably feed...
I see - thank you Ron! Will keep this in mind as I try to swap a starter soon.
Thanks for this incredibly helpful thread!
It looks like the O'Reilly part R612473B is in stock after others were having trouble finding it in the past.
Can anyone explain the functional...
Did not know that, thanks!
