    Sounds like something is choking off / blocking air from getting into the intake when you put any kind of pressure on the mixture unit.

    Could be a displaced gasket...
    Could be as you move the air mixture unit even a little you are opening a vacuum leak somewhere. Could be the pipe for the idle motor or the rubber fitting going to the W pipe.

    Another owner recently experienced a similar issue, but was able to re-use his existing boot/gasket I believe.

    If you can't find a new one, you may want to try repairing yours with some pliable silicon or something...

    Well fudge, not what I wanted to hear, Dave saying its hard to come by.
    Conveniently I just bought another car that won't be on the road anytime soon, supose to show up on the weekend so hopefully I can snag one off it for the time being
