    iPad Mini in a DeLorean

I'm torn between trying to implement something like this or waiting for a true double DIN bracket to come out for the D.

Has anyone done this or thought about doing it? This looks like an interesting starting point:

    The dimensions are: 6 3/8" X 9 1/8" (can be cut down to 5 5/8" X 9")

My car is in storage, so I can't easily measure the width of the console opening where the stock radio is, or the passenger side knee pad perhaps. Obviously the air vents would need to be re-routed if using the current console area. But this could make for an interesting project.

Also, using a Sony head unit allows you to hide it (i.e. behind the driver seat in the cubby) and still control all radio functions from the iPad apparently.

    "Option 2: the Sony Combo

This is by far the most in-expensive and feature packed option. Sony offers a line of car stereos with a feature called "App Remote". This feature allows you to control your Sony car stereo with an App installed on your tablet. Most sony radios also feature bluetooth for your phone. The App Remote feature is especially cool because you can install the sony unit somewhere hidden, which is very important because the amount of space on your dash is limited. Sony MEX-GS600BT"

I like this idea. We have a "Shelf" right above the radio. I'm not sure I want the iPad built in but some sort of mount and a single din radio it can interface with.

    What else do we need?

i built my ipad into my back wall. Installed a new power outlet tied into its own relay and harness, so i can always have it charging when the car is on. Then used the ipad bracket used for home in wall instals and bam ipad intergration. If i wanted i could have had it hooked up either blu tooth to the stereo or through the ipod wire from the radio. Do a search on my stereo install and you will see how i have it.

I am very interested in the idea of integrating the ipad into the car. Are you the person with the youtube videos regarding the same subject? if so, what components did you settle on? also, do you have a video that shows how you actually mounted the ipad? I would love to read or see everything you have on the subject.

    Thanks
You can't buy happiness, but you can buy a DeLorean and that's sort of the same thing....
