The smiley-faces make it look like he's saying "oh sure, you can drive to a friend's house, as long as it's also for a car show, *wink wink*..."
Guessing that wouldn't hold up in court if you couldn't show them your actual car show registration paperwork, though...

That's great. But you did not include all of the caveats like any mileage limitation, deductible, no commuting, drivers must be over a certain age, etc. Finally, an owner in another State cannot make a direct comparison because each State has different requirements. For instance, here in New Jersey, every owner must also pay into the State's uninsured driver's pool to cover people who get hit by a driver that has no insurance. That adds to the cost. In some States the Bodily injury is higher (or lower) which affects the premium. Or maybe they think the car is worth more than $25K. A higher Agreed value would increase the premium too. In some States there are things that can lower rates like an alarm, etched glass, Lojack, etc.

Since this thread is one that comes up if you do a search for "delorean auto insurance", I'm going to add my recent info here. Nobody has updated the thread in a few years so, I was able to get a policy through State Farm. Progressive is who I go through normally, and they would not insure a DeLorean. I have no accidents or anything - I got quoted for 6,000 miles/year, full coverage w/ $1000 deductible, $25k/$50k bodily injury, $25k property damage, uninsured motorist, and the quote was ~$350 for 6 months. So roughly double what many of the responses here are, but I think with more generous allowances.

Be careful with State Farm. I know 2 owners who had bad experiences with them. One was when he was young (about 15-20 years ago), they took his money, then decided they couldn't actually insure the car and wouldn't give him a refund. (He's with Hagerty now and didn't have any issues when a deer jumped in front of his LFF a while back.) The other totalled his car, then the insurance company tried to tell him his policy was only for $25k when he'd been paying premiums for $40k for a year. He had to threaten a lawsuit to get them to pay up. If your car is in good condition and worth a decent amount , it might be worth the extra money to go with a classic car specialist.
(I've probably mentioned this before but I switched to Hagerty last year. They're about $400 more than Geico but Geico was only going to pay based on depreciated value and red light running is practically an official sport in my state, so...)

As a repair facility, Geico is the only one that ever gave us a hard time on repair costs. We'd done repairs for State Farm, Hagerty, and a few others with no issue. Geico eventually covered but it was more work for the shop.
I've personally had my DeLorean on State Farm for over 20 years. Price is certainly right, but I've never made a claim so I can't vouch for that side of it. I was told that State Farm will not insure DeLoreans for new customers, (i.e. if you are with someone else, and you call them up for a quote, they will decline). Not sure about what happens if you are already with them and try add a DeLorean. I suspect that some of the variance depends on your relationship with your agent.

I agree with DaraSue. I’ve had several “car guys” warn me about insuring a classic car with a standard insurance company. My Progressive agent said he’d insure it for $40k, but good luck getting that from the company if the car ever gets totaled. He flat out told me Progressive would fight it. His honesty made me realize that a special car requires special insurance.
So I’m with Hagerty now. They are experts in this field, their rates are reasonable, and I’m guaranteed to get the full AGREED value in a total loss situation. Check the fine print in your insurance policy. If it doesn’t specifically say they will pay the agreed value, get a new policy.
