Ed B selling an ebay item worth watching

Ed B, formerly of D1 - has been selling off his stash on ebay for a while there - now an interesting item comes along - a virgin frame with some NLA components on it:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/DELOREAN-FRA...875bca&vxp=mtr

Why spend $14k on a fixer upper when you can buy a rolling frame instead? Hey, he may well get his money - but it will be fun to watch.

When checking out the ad make sure to read the expanded questions and answers section - Classic Ed!

I did buy his headlight switch logo recently and can confirm by the way he still has a storage facility in Northridge about a mile from his old shop, this ad has a description of whats jammed in there. I drove by once - nondescript space in a run down industrial block.

So - anyone looking for a virgin frame that you cannot and will not get pictures of?

    WHAT'S YOUR VIN?

    T

Wonder if he would ask any would-be buyers if they own a DeLorean and what their VIN is. Maybe he'd terminate the sale if the VIN was on his no-no list lol

Finally the last piece for the Wannabe Owner:

Buy this frameless car from BHCC ($10K)

Plus Ed’s frame for $14k, so you are at $24k.

Need an engine? Here’s one for $1750, plus a gearbox at $750. Lucky it's manual, so it will fit Ed's frame

You'll probably need this rear facia for $300 and this door glass for $100

That's only $26,900. Call it $30k with shipping charges

What are you all waiting for?

No-one is to stone anyone, even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say "carburetor"

He probably has the whole storage unit filled up with everything piled on top of this rolling frame. This must be his stash that he couldn't sell (or deliberately kept hidden and out of the deal) when he sold D1, as his retirement account. He does ask top prices for his stuff.

Did he actually sell the business, or just close it I wonder? I know some of his employees are/were still quietly rebuilding some cars on their own, maybe in Thousand Oaks or something?

It is not public as to exactly what Ed B sold. There is a shop that claims to have bought something of Ed's but it doesn't appear to be that he sold the business so much as some of the assets. They are trying to service Ed's customers but it doesn't appear they bought much (if any) if the NOS stock. It seems he squirreled away most of the valuable old stock and is selling it off piecemeal on E-Bay. If he was to dump it all at once it could depress the prices so he is doing it slowly (my guess).

I'm not sure that it would be possible for him to be more pretentious and demeaning in his responses to the potential buyers questions. Is it really unreasonable to ask for photos of the actual item? I mean, if he's going to sell it he'll have to pull it out anyway right? I know I'd never buy an item like this sight unseen...

My thoughts exactly. Does he expect the buyer to dig it out for themselves?

I guess he really does not expect it to sell.
