    Stiff clutch pedal?

This came up in the "annoyances" thread - but I thought it warranted a place to try to get a question.

When DMC-CA did my clutch a few years back it got super soft, like an 80's honda, for about the first two miles, then it was back to really stiff again.

    Why?

The master, slave, clutch and stainless braided hose are all a few years old.

Could have to do with the thrust bearing.
If it has not much play on the axle and gets warm (or even hotter), it could get difficult to slide, especially when pressure is applied.

I've noticed that in the sixties/seventies on many a car with a hydraulic clutch system.

On my current D I haven't noticed this problem.
