    MAACO bumper paint special, $149

I just saw a nice commercial last night by MAACO Auto body & paint. They running a bumper paint special, $149! It beats DIY and smelling the bad fumes and what big savings! As a former autobody guy you can't beat this... saving you time, prep, supplies and nailing the paint match. Check their website if a shop is near you.

Fascias & bumper here we go!

I generally don't criticize other shops (bad form) but we took one car to Maaco at the insistence of a customer. It was less than half the price of a real body shop even not on sale. I could have done better with rattle cans and a paint brush. That particular shop has since closed so maybe it was just them - but be careful and see what they are doing. It obviously depends on the skill of the painter but at that price they are thinking they can do the entire job in an hour.

At that price they will not take anything apart, i.e. they will mask around the grill and tail lights. You will get a better job if you take it apart yourself but it makes the car hard to drive.

I have seen there add here on TV but it's for $199. I will bet they only wipe it down with solvent for a prep. So any scratches or dings would just get painted over.

I remember Earl Scheib's TV commercials in the early 70's. "I'm Earl Scheib, and I'll paint any car, any color for $99.95. No ups, no extras."
I saw a few of those paint jobs and wasn't impressed.

lol! I remember those days. We had a Scheib not too far where we grew up. They had specials all the time and the commercials were annoying. I'm getting old. lol

I'm not as old as Paul. I remember Scheib going from 39.95 to 49.95.
