Wow this thread has taken a wrong turn to transaxle eternity! Hahah
May I suggest to split this into a thread called "transaxle mod theories" so Josh can have his thunder back?

May not be a bad idea. Transaxle/transmission information is definitely valuable, but should probably have it's own thread.
Truthfully, it might be nice if there was a section for transmission resource help. Especially as more people are modifying cars or engine swapping. Josh and I could talk about our experiences moving the transmission forward, along with any other engine swaps; those that have fitted Porsche 915 transmissions could share about that, potential improvements could be discussed, as well as general information about the 369 5 speed, 367 4 speed, UN1 5 speed, UN5 5 speed, UN7 AWD 5 speed, and the Renault 4141 automatic.
Agreed. Pretty much for almost anything PRV, the DeLorean community is everyone's source. But we're kind of lacking in the transaxles areas. That mostly seems to be dominated either by the GT40 crowd, or Australians. I say we start to open up a new sub-section for transaxles to accompany these engine swaps (I'm opting for a Ford 5.0 Coyote myself). We'll have a central thread for listing the Renault, Porsche, and other transaxles along with LSD & ATB differentials. From there we can split off into sub sections dealing with both installation as it pertains to mounting and adaptor kits. Then we can have separate subsections dealing with tweaks, weak points, and improvements to the specific transaxles.
I'm all for this. It's something very relevant to me, as well as judging by this thread, lots of others.
Let's go ahead and get it started. If the mods want to guide us on a redirection to either the General DeLorean Discussion\Resources or Custom DeLoreans/Mods (whichever they think is more appropriate), we can get started on this.

Back on the original topic of Josh's engine swap, I found this which may be useful to other people planning on doing such a swap but wanting to keep the original tachometer.

Sorry if everyone already knew about this. LOL

Well my fb is about as up to date as it gets!
Doing lots of little stuff.
-prepping wiring harness
-Fabbed ECU mount, belt tensioner, vss bracket and trigger wheel
-dissembled trans, cases being cleaned and powdercoated
-purchased misc engine parts - plugs, wires, waterpump, etc
- finalizing flywheel drawings - to be made next month
So lots of little stuff coming together. But nothing major enough for me to give an update! Its also very cold here so progress slows down. Just picking away a smaller stuff I can do inside.
I did get a decent deal on a t56 + ls1. I swapped around some parts to beef up the LS4, but I am going to re-sell the engine and trans (already sold) to add some funds to the project.
I decided against going with the ls1 as it was higher mileage, its history was unknown, the ls4 has warranty, and I want drive by wire and displacement on demand that the LS4 offers. id also have to make a new adapter plate to make the ls1 bolt up to the transmission. Easy enough but more money to spend
