I project of mine lately has been trying to develop my own one-piece manual transmission input shaft for the DeLorean. To begin testing my first prototype, I had to pull my transmission, disassemble the case, remove the input shaft, disassemble the original shaft, reassemble and install the new shaft, and reassemble the case. I did this over the course of the last few weeks, and earlier this week got the transmission installed back into my car.

Since I recently got a goPro camera, I thought it may be helpful to owners in the future if I video'ed the process. I wore the goPro on my head and talked through the complete rebuilding of the transmission from beginning to end. The videos are broken up into individual topics that are between 5-15min long. Truthfully these videos are probably really damn boring for the most part, but if they help even one person in the rebuilding of their transmission it will be worth it.
There are a lot of parts of this process that would be a lot easier if you had a press and maybe some other specialty tools, but this was just me working in my garage at my work bench. The only really specialty tool I had was a gear puller that I bought from Harbor Freight: http://www.harborfreight.com/14-piec...set-30305.html
Also keep in mind that the reassembly of the input shaft was of the new one-piece shaft, which for the most part is very uncommon (typically it would still be the 2 piece shaft). I did not disassemble the output shaft in the process because I had no reason to; however, if someone needs help with, or has questions about the output shaft, I can help/answer questions/take photos/make a video about it, as I've got 2 spare output shafts (one assembled, one disassembled) in a box in my garage right now.
Please note that by no means am I an expert on rebuilding these so you may be familiar with different ways to preform specific tasks. The videos simply show the ways that I performed the tasks when doing this rebuild.
This page will only allow me to embed one video per post so only the first video will be embedded, the rest will have to be links.
