    Fuel Pressure gauge

Okay - now you have all scared the shit out of me. Some 10 years ago I had the braided fuel lines installed, including an added fuel pressure gauge, installed on my car by Don Steger/Danny Botkin. Why? Well, first because it was a way to easily check for leak down after engine shut off, and, frankly, because I had just added a bunch of chrome in the engine compartment, it "fit in" with the scheme. So now I have driven well over 50,000 miles with it installed and have no problems to date. Additionally, my car has been serviced by one of the most highly regarded DMC franchises and I have never been advised to remove that gauge. But....or perhaps I should say BUT...with the miles I travel in my D, have I just been lucky, or are the warnings a bit overstated?

I wouldn't worry about it. Me personally, I don't see the need for the gauge at all. If your car has a hot-start issue for example, THEN it's time to break out the Fuel Pressure Gauge, and start testing. Depending upon the kit you buy, for $30-$40 more you can get a universal kit that works on multiple cars.

Installing the gauge is a personal choice to be sure, but it shouldn't pose any additional risk. You should be fine leaving it in place. I wouldn't worry.

I have a permanent fuel pressure gauge on my car. It is a very useful tool. Helped me quickly determine fuel regulator and check valve issues.
