    57 El Camino

I attended a small town (Warrior,Al) car show today and saw this beauty. This is a fully restored 57 El Camino and it was by far the nicest car in the show----heck it even looked better than my Delorean. I thought that some of you may like to see a picture of it.

Pretty cool custom, the El Camino didn't exist until 1959, so someone did a heck of a job on that build.

Although I am not a Chevy historian, I thought that had to be custom simply because as a car geek I like all car models and at age 81 I had never seen a '57 El Camino before. It was simply stunning. Thanks for posting it.

Not being a Chevy Fan I just assumed this was the real deal, however you are right 1959 was the first year of the El Camino. Real or not, this was a beauty and it was very well done.

I hate that someone would take a beautiful car like the Bel Air and turn it into that awful vehicular hermaphrodite.

So, you're on the fence about it Chris?

No-one is to stone anyone, even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say "carburetor"

What comes to my mind is, People taking a Beautiful car like a DeLorean and turn it into a DeLorean Monster truck, DeLorean Limo, DeLorean Hovercraft and DeLorean Roadster...
Or, A BTTF time machine replica.
(Rich W. I'm NOT making a comment about your accomplishments. I Love them)!

In other words, "it's something different".

After some googling around, I came across multiple examples of 1957 El Caminos. One was made from nothing but junkyard parts out of a burnt-up Nomad, another is just a custom job, but I can't find one that is red and has that same third taillight in the second picture. Every one I've come across is different, either in the lack of a sunvisor, to the grille color, to the amber turn signals, to the emblem locations, to the rims, I just can't find this car anywhere. As far as I can tell, it's either brand new to the "car show" scene or has just remained off the radar for this long without being spotted.

Fascinating nonetheless, I kind of like it actually, but on the other hand I don't, I'm also on the fence about it.

Here's a George Barris El Camino that was at the Good Guys car show in Del Mar, Ca about a month ago.

And not a picture I took but a better shot of the truck/car/thing.. (at Del Mar the other cars were too close and too many people in the way)
