If you know the State it was last registered in you can ask the DMV to do a record search by vin #. Some do it for a nominal fee.You just keep following it forward and back to get the whole chain-of-ownership. Might have to jump to several States to get the whole chain. Might get lucky and the car spent it's whole life in just one State. You should be able to get from the selling dealer right up to the present through all of the prior owners.

I'm sure that Ed B. has an up to date vin list. Although it may be hard to read it with all those black X marks on it.
Everytime I open the garage door, my car costs me a roll of toonies.

No-one is to stone anyone, even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say "carburetor"

That is the best answer that I would advise.

There are 3 sources for DMC-12 History:
    1. The original sales information from the DeLorean Museum.
    2. The DML rolls.
    3. State DMV Records.

With the DeLorean Museum, depending upon VIN, they may or may not have the info. The DML Rolls are the best things that I would recommend. The DOA *might* have had a few stragglers from members whose cars went into storage way back in the 1980's, but it's an even longer-shot than getting info from the Museum. I spoke with John Truscott before he died because I was advised he had records on cars, but I found out quickly that the DOA was just scanning the DML to read signatures. Their "research" wasn't that impressive at all.

Contacting your state's DMV/PS/Tax Assessor is your best bet. Since you're in Georgia, this would be your best place to start: Georgia Motor Vehicle Services

Any chance 1494 is on any of those old, printed Vin Lists? I know the previous/First owner was from Talmo, GA, but just wanted to see if I could get a name. Thanks!

I'm sorry Grover but there is nothing on your VIN
Unfortunately, they're a lot of owner in GA whom didn't tell their VIN number.
