    Was there any noticeable difference in performance with the modified butterfly plates? I was thinking of doing this to my car along with splitting the shaft.

    Not that I recall. How often do you drive around with the throttle wide open?

    I don't think you would notice the difference driving the car. Probably only see if it helps with a dyno test.

    The advantage I was after was to see if the idle would be better since those valves could leak. I did not notice any improvement there also.

    I suppose the same could be said for the subject of this thread itself...

    If it's a thread about extracting as much power out of the stock intake wherever possible, every little bit helps. Though I would admit that the very first thing to do would be to adjust that linkage rod between the Throttle Spool and the Butterflies. If the Throttle doesn't even open all the way when the gas pedal is pressed to the floor, you're not even receiving all of the power the stock engine has to deliver.

    We see quite a few cars where the throttles don't open all the way. Typically what happened is that sometime in the past 30 years water got in the cable and froze, and someone pressed the gas pedal bending the linkage.

    Throttle plates arrived!

    The plates have arrived from the machinist and I have been packaging them up.
