What more info could you possibly want?

Yes, looks like it is the same car, but they have done a great job restoring it.
    Dermot
    VIN 2743, B/A, Frame 2227, engine 2320

I don't always drive cars, but when I do, I prefer DeLoreans

No-one is to stone anyone, even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say "carburetor"

    But wants 30K for it...
Also has a Craigslist ad with that price on it.

I wonder if he will mention to his buyer, where that came from.

Is it for D's as important to have "Matching numbers" as it is with Muscle cars?

If it was restored correctly then I'd think it would be better than a car sitting for 10 yrs all original. Looks from the pics like it was done well.

As for the matching #s, I've never heard much discussion on this for our cars. And who's to say that's not the original motor.

The only issue I have with the eBay listing is that the seller describes it as "All original" and as another member mentioned, there's not much information provided.

i believe Michael said it best in the "Matching Numbers" thread: "There is no or has there ever been a 'numbers matching' Delorean."

I mailed the 17009 owner (via his craigslist email) saying with gentle kindness that I found his car to be a previous salvage car.

That is what I got today, in response (I quote):

"You are a fucking ass hole. Never at junk yard"

    ... a very professional seller, isn't it?

Actually, to complete your statement. You did not just mail him about that. You mailed him to make an offer and since you saw it at a salvage state, you were requesting some Information on the job done on it

That is correct. Am I too naive or is it possible that we are confusing the VIN? Maybe his car was really not the salvage car, and 17009 is a number that had been misread on the wrecked car...?

I don't know, I'm just trying to justify a so violent reaction, even though I think that words like that can't be reasonable at all.

I had that thought too. But upon an honest mistake the reply would have been: "I am afraid you have my car confused with another one"
Extremely angry reactions come from people with no temper or people who don't like being discovered.

Plus, to hand credit to the thread starter 2 years ago, I doubt any member in here with all that passion for Ds would "missread" a VIN

I enjoyed the Steve Martin reference!
