Looking good. How much is all that costing? Any reason you went with a windows platform?

This is the hardware I have ended up with. Its a Intel Nuc micro computer i7 8Gb ram and 128Gb ssd hardrive. It runs everything nice and fast. Best of all it boots to windows in under 10 sec.

I took the whole setup to Ken's and stuck it in one of his other cars to test look and viewing angles. It looks washed out on the pics but in person it looks really good, Should be bright enough even in the daytime.

I took the screen out of the binnacle so I can redesign the bracket and mounting system. I also have my 10.4 in touchscreen for the center console.
The one on the left has the stock dash, with a mock-up of the interface I will be writing. The one on the right has the proto dash and a android virtual machine running Spotify.
Both screens are running of the same computer.

Over the next few weeks I will be roughing in the center screen interface. I previous designed it for a much larger screen and need to find a good balance for the size of everything. Now that I have the physical screen, I can test how it looks and the sizes of different buttons and menus.

Just a test fit to check viewing angles. The display is perfectly readable by the driver seat. The passenger side gets a little dark. The screen is easy to reach and not blocked by the gear shift. I got a quote from a local machine shop for a bracket. The new bezel will fit in the space in the console and hold the screen. It will made of stainless and will be attached to a stainless replacement for the metal section around the gear shift and button section. It should look pretty nice when it's done.

On my car I'll be moving the air vents to the knee pads, I've seen a few people do that. The A/C controls will be controlled by the touch screen. The lights and hazards will be moved to a button on the console as well as on the touch screen.

Does the screen cause any issues driving at night?

Not sure yet, this till a early prototype, and not installed in a car yet. This is someone eles's car that I did a crude test fit to check how it will look.

I am a really picky about dark cabins when I am driving at night. I always have panel lights dimmed very low. That being said, having options to reduce brightness is a big deal with me. I will be able to dim the 2 displays for night time driving. With that I will have night modes to reduce extra lights and use red colors. And for the best option for night time driving, I will have a Heads up display projected on a piece of glass with the dash screen turned off.
