Sweet! I don't care for the exhaust, but the 4.3 is a strong mill, thirsty, but strong. I think it is similar to the PRV, in that the design was based on a V8 (7.2 L?). I had one in a Chevy Blazer, and in a boat (mercruiser marine version).

The 4.3L Chevy engines are pretty much based on whatever Chevy 350 V8 is being produced at the time. They're essentially the same 90 degree V8 engine with 2 cylinders chopped off (5.7L X 75% = 4.3L). They even have the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the Chevy V8s, rather than the GM Metric bellhousing bolt pattern.

Its a shame, could have had some metric bolt pattern rwd transmissions. However You can get a cheap 5spd out of an s10 for a mild v8 build.

That exhaust though. This thing is definitely a basket case. The spare parts would help out alot.

Thanks Nicholas. That's what I had remembered. Also thanks for getting the proper displacement. I did 4.3 / 6 x 8, but went must have fat fingered it.

Haha. There must be a great back story to this, when the sale includes "parts that came with the car" and that includes 3 exhausts for a different engine and 5 assorted doors.

No-one is to stone anyone, even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say "carburetor"

First time down the road in over 10 years

Good Friday is the day this eBay find made it down the road.

I didn't win the auction but I still ended up with the car. It was rough. It looked better in the pictures. Everything worked out since price was negotiable that day. It took 2 pickup trucks to get all the spares home. They have paid for nearly all the parts I needed. It has needed everything rebuilt and still needs a lot to make it right. The GM engine is the only thing that hasn't had to come out, yet?

    Congratulations!

I like hearing about cars brought back from the brink. The engine looks great...any chance you could post a video of it running?
