Just an FYI the flat hood with the DeLorean emblem was an 82 thing (unless the hoods been changed in the past, flat is the only one currently available new)

My car is a Sept 81, black interior automatic with a grooved hood. If you have $30,000 US dollars to spend, you can have mine. That's over $42,000 in Canadian dollars and I'd have no problem taking that money and going to find another hobby.
Sept. 81, auto, black interior
I'm only interested in cars located in the US due to all the fees when purchasing a car located out of country...

Honestly, I wouldn't get too hung up about the hood type. If you end up with a great car with a "gas-flap hood", you would have no problems swapping that with another owner that has a "grooved hood".

I don't always drive cars, but when I do, I prefer DeLoreans

No-one is to stone anyone, even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say "carburetor"
Or just pulling the badge off. Don't let a little double sided tape dictate where you spend your money.

If you can "live with" a gas flap hood and about 65K miles, I recommend purchasing Raffle Tickets for the 2016 DeLorean Raffle Car.

Without getting into a debate on what's better or more desirable... gas flap hoods are harder to come by. "Turning one into" a grooved or flat hood shouldn't be difficult.
Are you looking for grooved or would flat with the badge removed work?
And... if you're looking for something very specific, hold out for it. DeLoreans for sale aren't exactly a dime a dozen, but they're definitely around. I found exactly what I wanted without too much trouble. I did end up paying more for mine than originally intended. I didn't wait that long, though. If I'd been more patient I could have done better on price, too. Though I have a well sorted car from DMCMW that I'm very happy with.
