    New door keys jig

Is it worthwhile making my own jig, I am unable to borrow one as I am in Australia. Would a cardboard template suffice if it was secured to the door and I filed very carefully. It looks like the tolerances are very tight.
Seems like my only alternative at the moment.

Not sure I understand what you're trying to achieve here....

Are you trying to make a duplicate key? I'm not following. Sorry.

    +1.

The only jig I can think of is for doing torsion bars, but that doesn't seem to fit the request either

No-one is to stone anyone, even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say "carburetor"

Are you talking about the filing jig for upgrading to the later one key door lock system?

I think that's exactly what he's talking about.

I had ordered the jig in the past. It's a nice piece of machined steel that will make it difficult to make a mistake. For $50, I would use it, but I know there are owners who managed without it.

Years ago I had copies made of our original Kent Moore jig and so did DMCH I believe. It's not really necessary. You just need to a 4mm square notch at the top of the mounting hole and a 3mm square notch at the bottom and you're golden.

Yes , I have measured the new locks with a micrometer and both the top and bottom slots are 3mm , I will just make a template up and file the slot very carefully.
Thanks for the information and advice.
