    Agree. The GM module gives you better dwell (less power consumed at idle) and current limiting (6 amps max) but still can run OEM unit with about 1.5 ohm coil.

    If I wasn't so gunshy about making an adapter I would try running the GM module. I've been running the Pertronix 1.5 ohm coil for two years sans the ballast resistor without any trouble so I'm good for now.

    For anyone curious, here's a non-OEM (Pertronix) coil installed, fits in the stock bracket just fine. (Sorry for the sideways view, I don't know how to rotate it)

    i am running the exact same coil with a GM ignition module

    Do you know how hot your coil gets?
    Mine can get pretty hot uncooled

    I'm not sure. Over the next few days I will try to get out to the garage and measure the coil's temperature. (The weather is very cold where I am right now so might be a few days before I can get to it)
