its just a way to know who owns what, and a way to know what deloreans are still around and survived, because out of the roughly 9k DMC-12's built around 6k are estimated to still exist.

My VIN:    A few, by name... DeLorean Monster Truck, DeLorean Roadster, DeLorean Hovercraft, DeLorean Limo

    Club(s):   (DMWC) (DCUK)

VIN's are very helpful to track projects and project cars, over time.

In many cases, projects are started and never completed, or sometimes
never fully completed, or project cars become donors for other projects.

This is the case with a project car that was to become a front engine
and front wheel drive car (which did not happen), then it became a donor
for an electric conversion. Another "good intention" front drive conversion
car ended up as a donor car, being parted out last year (in Canada, IIRC).

Some engine swap cars have swapped engines a few times (different makes)
so it is helpful to know where Custom D's are and how they have changed.

    Later,
    Rich W.

BTW: You are correct...never been to Beach Haven, so I will leave it to Gman.

I see a Delorean in person almost never, a friend of mine in Ca. owns one and I sat in one once in 1981 when they first came out (Ford dealership), other then this one I may have seen one 2 other times on the road.

with a bunch of people around and hot girls all looking it was hard enough to ask a real question let alone think of the VIN # ?, something I just don't find important (yet).

Sorry I'll try to keep it in mind next time. If you all want I can draw you a picture in the sand.
