Suction Fuel line between the pump and screen.

I am replacing my fuel pump with my spare and discovered the hose between the pump and the screen is very spongy. I am wondering if anyone has replaced theirs with a regular fuel line i.e. Gates fuel hose? I can run the hose from the top of the screen instead of the side. It will work the way I am planning, however my only concern is will the hose hold up submersed in gas? Thanks for your help!RK

    hose

Bring the hose to Ace hardware, and look for a spring to fit
inside the pickup hose. I think I used a regular screen door
spring stretched out. As long as your in there pull the baffle
out and drill four tiny holes where the goofy top spring clip is
supposed to hold the baffle flat. Thread the "clip spring"
through the holes and your baffle will never slip off and go
    sideways one you......

Screen door screen works really well. Stretch it out, then use oil or dish soap and water to push it through. Obviously if you use water and dish soap don't put it back in all wet n' frothy!
