On a plane surfing the site as I fly from Maine to Los Angeles. I was on the east coast for a wedding. Power was out most of Sunday, but nothing too bad in terms of wind, etc. Between this and the tornado at the St. Louis airport earlier this year, I'm a bit worried I have a curse for being around dangerous weather.

I'm pulling for those in Vermont. Those flooded rivers look scary as Hell.

From 32,000 feet above, have a good night.

I'm thinking about getting a generator that runs on propane. Since I have a 250 gal tank for my water heater and backup heat I could just hook the generator up to that tank. Then I would have water (have a well) and keep food cold. I'm looking at a 7 Kwatt unit so could probably run most everything except the stove and dryer.

Power, Internet, phone and cable all back up. Now have to go shopping to fill up the empty refrigerator.

they make refrigerators that run on propane as well; we used one when i was on a tiny island for two weeks doing field research. it ran for those full two weeks on a single canister (5 gallon?) without showing any sign of running out anytime soon. it was small (1 to 2 cubic feet), but it kept the essentials cold... i might get one eventually for emergency situations.

glad to hear you have your power back!
