    3D Printed Cell Phone Bracket

There's not a good place to put a cell phone for navigation or to play music in the car, and I haven't liked the add-on solutions. I don't want to block the vents with my phone, nor do I want to rely on the thin, old plastic vents to have to support the weight. I don't want anything permanent either. I bought a 3D printer last week and have been working on a bracket to pair up with the ASI radio. I took apart a Belkin holder that's meant to connect to a vent and mated it with my piece. It can rotate, so I have the option to twist my phone between portrait and landscape. When I don't want the bracket to be visible, it's easily removed.

I don't think this is going to be the final design, but it's satisfying to have learned 3D printing this week and to have produced something useful.

    Pretty clever idea.

Cupholder will be a project I'm gonna undertake after I get my interior back together. I guess the engineers figured no one would want to have a refreshing beverage in the car..hehe.

Update on my bracket: it sucks. That's okay though, it was a good first attempt. I'll try another version at some point.

    Can't be more true.

    Perfect example:

    Little snippet:
Working in a small lab in San Diego, California, it took them 40 attempts to get the water displacing formula worked out. But they must have been really good, because the original secret formula for WD-40® -which stands for Water Displacement perfected on the 40th try—is still in use today.
