All right, I won't worry too much that there's some weird vacuum leak or something (although as problems go, I guess getting 30+ mpg would be a pretty good one to have). I had that happen once before (drove 300 miles and only took 10.3 gallons) and when I told my buddy about it he thought I was violating the laws of physics somehow, LOL.

Nice long interstate trips with minimum stops between fill ups are perfect for seeing maximum gas mileage.

Just a mundane drive to work today, but rolled over the big 3-7. I cheated a little by taking a detour through an industrial park for the last 8/10 of a mile but I wasn't digging the prospect of trying to catch it while merging onto the highway. I could see some fireworks going off as I was going up the hill so it was a celebration all around

With my cover plate off the fuel hoses I haven't yet been able to replicate the fuel fume issue. Air passes through the rollover valve, I tried the slosh test and there was some fluid by the pump but it wasn't gas, didn't smell or look like anything but water. Washer fluid? Weird.

What, no pictures of fireworks and car? hehe.

could be washer fluid..I think the line runs past that area..but wouldnt think it would be in any real amount. (of course my washer bottle has been dry since prolly the late 90's...but I got a cap for it now so i might see if it needs cleaning out and see if it actually works)

Didn't have too many adventures last year due to my work place being too short staffed to get time off to drive anywhere, but I did some events so I guess that's kind of an adventure in itself.

    Grand re-opening of my buddy's office: 20181020_120823.jpg

"Time Traveler's Ball" fundraiser for UT Pride Center: 20181027_210837.jpg

Film distributor's convention promo for Tamir's documentary (none of my own photos available b/c I had to work and just dropped it off at the resort before the event and picked it up afterwards, but it showed up on IG and Chris Burns's FB page)

Grand opening of new hospital buildings: 20190130_103104.jpg IMG_20190130_180603.jpg

No disasters, got the car back in one piece every time, and made a few bucks on the last two. I even let people sit in it and take their pictures at the Pride Center event, although that's not something I want to make a habit out of.

Having some issues with my clutch ever since I got the rear main seal replaced by a local shop (it's currently sitting in my garage in a non-shiftable state waiting on parts) but hopefully I can get it sorted out in time to drive to CA next month and start having non-stationary adventures again!

Yeah shockingly the shop that last worked on it isn't returning my calls. Expect another exasperated thread here soon...

Went out to Wendover yesterday in the hopes that if anything was going to shake loose, it would do it on the way there or back, not 400 miles up the road to Spokane.

    The weather was sub-optimal...

But once I got out of the rush-hour traffic it was smooth sailing.

Even the ominous sky couldn't bring me down.

It was a slow day at the casino where I stopped for some mediocre biscuits and gravy.

    20190522_201707.jpg
This was as good as the sunset got on the drive back.

    Hit the big 3-9.

Made it home under its own power and with everything apparently still functioning, which as long-time readers may recall, is a first for a Wendover trip in this car. Hopefully that's a good sign for the drive to Expo next month. I pushed it harder than I usually do, holding around 80 for most of the way*. I even put a GPS speedo on my phone and took it up to 88 for a second (but sadly was not actually able to go back and change my past, LOL).

Ironically as I was pulling back into my garage I noticed the puddle of antifreeze toward the front where I'd been parked but it didn't leak at all last night and I hadn't noticed it before so I assume that happened while I was idling to check the dwell before I left. I'll take another couple cranks on the left radiator hose clamp before I leave for Spokane and if it keeps acting up I'll have Toby take a look. My dwell still hovers closer to 50 than 40 but when I turn the screw clockwise to get it lower it seems like it wants to stumble on the low end so I just left it on the high side. Maybe time for a new O2 sensor?

*Before anybody freaks out, the limit on that highway is 80 so I was barely keeping up with traffic.

Cool that she made the trip without any incident..prolly finally settling in and deciding to be your car...the puddle coulda been from the car stressing about the trip...hehe.

As for hitting 88 and not going back in time...you needed to wait for some lightning..judging by those pics you mighta gotten some eventually.

LOL, I'm just glad it forgave me for yelling at it a couple months ago...
