The motor/actuator is actually two tiny electric motors linked by gears and linkage to a rotating plastic ball attached to the mirror support plate. A short in there would be problematic to fix but the good news is it's more likely to be the switch. I can fix bad switch's and have disassembled the actuator motor successfully. Try to verify the switch is good before going further. If you need a Act/Mtr I can help you there as well. I had a pic for you of the assembly torn apart but can't upload it for some reason.

It's a push on one way retainer.
Digging up an old thread here. Are there any vendors that sell the access cover under the side mirrors? VIN 952 is missing this piece on the driver's side mirror (previous owner was not a detail person). The mirror is otherwise fine, so I hate to buy the entire thing.

Seems feasible to 3D-print it, even in cheapest FDM technology. I can prepare and post 3D model of the part, if anybody's interested.

Be a cool idea to start a place where 3d print files could be stored when someone makes them...eventually we may have to make our own parts for everything..hehe.
