Okay SERIOUSLY, what the hell is wrong with my brakes?

A while back I posted a thread, and in that thread I describe a problem:

I had a brake problem a while back (some of you probably remember this), and a lot of the symptoms of that problem stemmed from braking extremely hard. Thanks to Sean coming over and helping me replace the brake master cylinder, everything seemed to be working again. Unfortunately last week I was driving the car and had to brake hard, and the exact same symptoms have resurfaced - after hard braking the brake pedal becomes easier and easier to push, eventually going to the floor with ease, and only pumping the brakes to build pressure can make it easy to stop the car. No brake fluid leaks that I can see.
I just had the brake master cylinder replaced again yesterday, and apparently it was a giant waste of money because I'm still having the exact same problem.

HELP PLEASE. This is seriously pissing me off.

Sounds like possibly air is entering or trapped in your system? Did you get a nice fluid stream on each caliper when bleeding?

Had a professional brake shop perform the service.

Do you have the factory soft lines? If they're forced to expand, the could take some time to constrict again. It's known they do deteriorate with age, either swelling or becoming glorified check valves.

Also - our callipers are notoriously hard to bleed. I'd be surprised if a non-dmc facility did it correctly. Still.... air, no matter where it is, would not (in my experience) cause a soft pedal only under certain circumstances. It would always be soft.

Honestly I have no idea. Easy way to check?

Yes. Look at the lines coming off the frame and going to the caliper. If they are dark with a black plastic spiral, they're factory.

    You bet. Here's factory

If they don't ring a bell, you're probably still running factory. New braided lines are visually quite different, in an array of colours (mine are red) and just have a coloured sheath over the braided hose.

    Yep. Looks factory to me.

And all bone dry, no less.

I would call your preferred vendor and get their opinion before throwing any more money at it, but worst case scenario, new soft lines are a good investment in your own safety.

    Thanks Dave.

If anyone else has any other thoughts I'd love to entertain more suggestions, but so far what we have is plausible. Also, if any vendors would like to chime in as well, I'm all ears.
