Rebuilt the fuel distributor o-rings . Replaced the headlights that have probably been on the car for 30 years and sottered the broken ground on the right front sidemarker . Car is fully operational again. Last system to bring online is the AC . I'll start assembly of that soon.

So I have been chasing brake issues since I built this car. Everything is new except the original metal lines. About a month or so ago I started having some intermittent pedal going to the floor scaring the crap out of me. I put the car on the lift, pulled the wheels and discovered a lot of brake drag . Front pads were smoked again and I had just rebuilt the calipers a few months before. I dug into the car to figure out why my brakes keep being a pain and found a few surprises. The front left caliper I could move while mounted . Pulled the hub and discovered 3 mounting bolts for the caliper bracket had backed out (scary. Someone had impacted them on and spread the lock washers so they were able to back out). Fixed that. Found the brake servo vacuum line connected but the clamp that secures is was loose and dangling. Moved on to the DMC master cylinder I had installed and was surprised to find it leaking and had failed. Ordered a 50/50 unit from delorean go and swapped that . Also adjusted the brake servo rod clockwise (in) 2 flats to fix the brake drag when my brakes get hot. Rebuilt the front calipers. Flushed the entire system and I finally have good solid reliable brakes. I like the way the 50/50 master brakes a lot better then the DMC 60/30 unit. Cars back on the road and driving/braking better then ever . What is the red substance on the friction side of the brake pads in the 1st pic??

It's the pad surface itself

I always wondered if those caliper bolts would back out. i guess they can. I red locktite them.

Sorry, not clear- The pad material is dark gray (asbestos) as usual. I've never seen anything applied to the surface before. Where did you get them?

Yeah I did the same I was shocked. One was actually sheared.

I'll have to pull the hub and mill it out later .
I replaced washers and put some lock tight on the bolts as well

They are just the high end Rock Auto pads. A permormance friction modifier coating crap lol (Probably already worn off lol)

I see. I thought it might be something new...help shelf life, help seat them in or something.
