Replaced turn signal unit with a nos replacement and put brand new nos horns in. Car now has a horn and autocancelling turn signals that work. Now to not let people sit in the car and kick the stalk. Had to cut up a harmonic balancer puller and go get some bolts from hardware store to make a steering wheel puller that fit.
For future reference, it's easy to remove the steering wheel using an impact hammer (using your right hand) on the center of the steering column shaft while you grab the top of the steering wheel with your left forearm.

Yeah I know thanks for the tip. This was my quick attempt before going to buy an air hammer and it worked. Just destroyed a 10 dollar jap puller lol

What size socket you need for that? I need to pull my steering wheel to replace the stalk assembly. What about putting it back on?

That appears to work about 98% of the time.....I'm the other 2%.

It’s been awhile since I pulled mine but I think the socket was a 21 or 22 but could have been 24.

ON, is the easy part. Just make sure you make alignment index witness marks between shaft and hub before removing it.

alignment isnt an issue...somehow the wheel magically got turned when I was installing the column bushing, so I have to recenter it too.

Cool. One of my 'wants' after I get the car roadworthy again is a luggage rack.
