I think you need to check your facts. That car was and is in pretty excellent condition.

Like Patrick, I had the privilege of spending a lot of time with the Carson car. I spent a particularly large amount of time with the car in 2008. In the months preceding the 2008 DCS, the show had very few concours entries registered (only 2 including Ken). As you know, Cliff (the then owner of the Carson car) was heavily invested in DCS along with Ken. For the sake of the show and having participants in the judging, Cliff was planning to enter the Carson car in the Concours judging. The car was still all original, never restored. I spent a full day going through the car with the Millennium Concours manual, doing a mock judging, and making a short list of any small items we could clean or correct between the car. The car did not need much at all. In the end, when the show rolled around there ended up be about half a dozen entries so Cliff decided not to have it judged, due to judging time constraints (so as not to take away from the other Concours cars). Regardless, I am 100% positive that it would have scored at least a bronze certification, if not a silver certification.

I'm not sure what your definition is of "not in the best shape," but to me, any car that will score in Concours is in pretty good shape. I'm sure the Sheas would validate this and plan to keep it that way.

Obviously the car has been cleaned up since 2000. Back then it looked complete but in dire need of a through detailing. AFAIK it didn't even place in that concours. I am glad the current owner is giving the car the attention it deserves. BTW although it is known as the J/C car, he never actually owned it. He did have it, use it, and drive it but he did not own it personally. It was given to him for publicity purposes and that kind of backfired when he famously got stuck.

It was a company car that was assigned to Carson as a $500,000 investor in the company. And this car in question is the second company car that was assigned to him (and the one in which he got his famous DUI in.) The first car had a gas flap and did leave him stranded when the Ducy alternator died.

What was the Vin number of the first car? Does anyone know where it is now?

From this list it's VIN 500, setting aside the pilot cars:

VIN 500 is probably still at the Case Western Auto and Avaition Museum in Cleveland. Their webpage still has a photo of a DeLorean on it.

No-one is to stone anyone, even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say "carburetor"
