    Roof box repair

Hello was wondering if anyone had information on exact procedures to add carriage bolts on rear roof box area? I have my T panel off now and although my roof looks fine I thought I might as well make sure it doesn't separate . Any certain area on the beam where you should drill and put the bolts . I just want to be sure I don't do it wrong . Thank you

Pretty simple and straight forward, I placed the bolts off centre towards the rear as that's where the main stress is from the securing plates. You can use standard m10 (pref stainless) bolts. Plenty of space between box and roof panel.

It's pretty easy job. While your in there it may be a good time to pull all the old sealent and put new sealent in and also reinforce door strut brackets. Don't underestimate the amount of time all that takes. I have a solid 4 days into my roof lol.

They sell a repair kit if your intimidated that does the job and includes instructions. but you can also source all the same stuff from lowes. You'll have to cut the bolts flush with the nuts inside the car. Check out my build thread I just did this and documented it.

Thanks, that will help. I am assuming since my roof Fiberglass is not lifting up at all , I can just add the bolts without removing torsion bars or anything?

Yes it'll be fine if the box hasn't lifted. Just do it with both doors open to release any strain, and tighten the bolts slowly in order.

The thru bolts are the best fix but you need to remove the headliner. I used smaller bolts in the back lip (same surface as the brackets, just biting into the fiberglass. I removed the bars and put pressure on the top side before drilling for the bolt holes.

Back when I first bought my car, that was another option other owners did.

Note: you'll only need to remove the rear section of the roof liner. No need to remove whole thing.
