    Finding Local Car Shows

As a kid I was always disappointed when I would go to car shows and there wasn't a DeLorean. There was one by my town that would always gather on Saturdays that I would go to my grandpa with.

Apparently the same year I got my car is the same year it ended. How do you guys find local shows to take your cars? I tried googling but all I can find is patch articles for shows happening soon in 2011.

If the above post was DeLorean related it should be noted that I don't know what I'm talking about.

My VIN:    A few, by name... DeLorean Monster Truck, DeLorean Roadster, DeLorean Hovercraft, DeLorean Limo

    Club(s):   (DMWC) (DCUK)

Chicago area and other Northern Illinois Car Shows / Cruises

Here are a few of the links we keep on the DeLorean Midwest Connection website (for each year):

    http://www.carshowz.com/illinois-car-shows

    https://classicrecollections.com/cru...vent-calender/

    http://www.showcaseclassics.com/calendar/index.php

Note: At least one of the links only shows shows/cruises from Spring through Fall, while at least
one other link shows some of the indoor shows, like the Chicago World of Wheels next weekend.

BTW: This year is the 30th Anniversary of the DeLorean Midwest Connection club (est. 1987)

There should be a few websites that aggregate lists of shows in your area... But beware. Many of them are geared towards hot rods and muscle cars. IN my neck of the woods (Portland, OR area) those folks look at a DeLorean owner as a bastard step child. They don't know what to make of me when I roll in, get cranky when the crowds push past there classics to see the stainless steel car with the funny doors, and even more dumbfounded when we win awards. Granted we usually only win people's choice awards - the peer judged shows we get snubbed. It may be different where you are and I don't mean to prejudice any experience you might have. I've done them for years and will keep doing them because I enjoy shaking things up.

All that said, I really enjoy the oddball shows - The All British Field Meet is a great one, also any show that's for orphan brands.

Look and you will see those auto trader magazines for free at the grocery store.

Here in IL they have one that is called Illinois Auto and RV.

In there they have a listing of a lot of different events and show all over the state.

I think there is one for all the Midwest states and probably across the country.

I often grab those magazines when I see them since the Auto and RV has a lot of interesting things in it. Yes it has the usual regular cars and trucks but also has a lot of classic cars, Big trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, motorcycles, ATVs, of course RVs. It has a huge variety of things the other free car magazines do not have.

I spent time really reading it one day and noticed they had listed may events and car shows. They had them listed in a monthly type setting. They seemed to have many months of events listed so you could probably plan your whole summer. I was very surprised to see how may car show and events there are around here.

Remember it is the AUTO AND RV. The other free cars magazines suck and just have regular boring junk.

Not sure about actually trying to get your car in the shows since typically they are planned ahead of time but that will get you the info and where to start.

    Good luck

I remember my relatives (who live in Wisconsin) saying there was a pretty good show there mid-state. I think it was Iola they were talking about (2200 cars!). It'd be 3.5 hours from you, a reasonable drive for a good show! While looking for it, I found some pretty good sites for finding car shows:

    http://www.carshowfinder.org/states/...-car-shows.htm
    http://www.oldride.com/events/wisconsin_carshow.html

Maybe using those sites for other state searches will yield something closer.

Also, look for local cars-n-coffee meetups. If there isn't one, find a couple car-lovin' brethren and meet at the local donut shop the same time every Sunday. Before you know it, others will join, and the store owner will advertise it and you'll have your own show!
