    Cracked fuel sender

    Hello guys,

I recently bought a used working fuel sender, but unfortunately the plastic tube now has a crack due to shipping damage:

I already have one of the newer fuel sender (actually one from the first release, known to be a little longer) but I prefer the operation of the original units.

So, is the plastic tube repairable or replaceable? I'd like to hear some feedbacks from who attempted this job before.

    Thanks

Do you think the crack will get worse if you install it as is in the tank? The sender will still work with a crack like that, assuming the portion sliding up and down on the inside of the tube doesn't catch the edge of that crack and get stuck.

You could glue it, but you'd need some sort of glue that is immune to the affects of sitting in gas, which I'm not sure there is one of those.

ow about the 5 second fix. That bonding agent that hardens with the uv light. I'm not sure if it stands up in fuel but maybe Wroth a try. My Walmart sells it of the shelf.

Just a thought mind you. Dave B

A few tie wraps around it should hold it together.

Difficult to do anything like that, it fits tightly into the hole on top of the tank. If the crack doesn't snag the float you should be OK with the crack.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I disassembled the tube and the internals appear to be in good condition
