    Alternator help

    Hey guys and gals,

I need your Help. My motor came with this alternator and I don't know much about it, and in the effort to speed up time and installation I am hoping to get some help. There are so many alternator threads its hard to read threw all the crap. It looks to be the 120 that DMC sells ?
-Can I use my stock mounting brackets on this alternator ( I assume yes?)
-I assume it is a standard gm 4 plug, but I am tracking I only need one wire correct? anyone have a part number of a generic connector at auto zone or something so I don't have to deal with the idiots behind the counter.
-which wire is the correct one on the plug to wire into the delorean harness, and what does the alternator lead look like on the harness...i bought an 83 nos harness.

    thanks,alternator 5.jpgalternator 2.jpgalternator 4.jpgalternator 3.jpg18159616_10210635764143123_756659138_o.jpg

    Hi Jimmy,

As Dave mentioned I'm not sure if that's a DMCH alternator. If you find that you need the 4 wire GM plug, here's a GM 3 wire plug that I bought ( the 4th diesel wire isn't needed, and I only used 2 wires on this plug.... brown and red)

Here's a thread that is helpful in connecting it to the harness...

Looks like the Saturn alternator. Note 8mm upper mounting hole, and case is identical. 96 amp.

This is what I used: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Delco-CS...JR9gy3&vxp=mtr

Looks about the same as the Dorman unit. Amazon has the Dorman unit w/Prime shipping, the one above is fast & free on eBay.

If you can't find one, don't have Prime, and need it in 2 days from Amazon, let me know....I'll order it and have it sent to you.

It's definitely a Saturn Alternator. DMCH sells a similar CS-130 style alternator with a slightly different "iceberg" shell that matches the OEM bracket.
    - You can use the stock bracket with this alternator as long as the included spacer fits.
    - Only the L (Lamp wire) is required, but putting a ring terminal on the S wire end and bolted it along with the heavy output wire onto the output terminal of the alternator
wire to the battery positive will help your alternator maintain a stable V flow. The previously referenced thread goes in further detail: http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?12...MCH+alternator
    - The GM plug Brown/Red should connect to your stock brown/yellow (Lamp) wire.
