    5063 the tale goes on

Hi all! I'm new to this forum and as a Delorean owner.

I got 5063 from mpolzin, and will carry on the restoration. I have done exactly nothing to it yet, but knowing my own impatience, I'm gonna get it running as soon as possible, and dealing with the cosmetics along the way.

My plan is to fix the brakes, clutch and then get the engine running. From then on I'm just gonna deal with whatever comes up next.

Zachary is sharing the garage space with my Porsche 928 S4 and fiat bertone x1/9, and a couple of household daily drivers.

I'll update this thread as thing start to happen.

My first job is to get the passenger side door to open. 🤣 It appears to be stuck at the front latch.

Try closing the rear latch, and then pushing DOWN on the interior door handle. Hold the handle down, and then press the rocker to unlock the doors. Then pull up on the handle to see if you can get the door to open.

    Congrats on the car!

    Thanks!

I have a situation going with the door. The rear latch is locked and resting on the striker pin, not closed around it. The front one is closed onto the striker as it should. So the door is closed kinda crooked right now...

Welcome and congrats on the new car.

I had a similar issue with the door. Had to get Toby at DMCNW to get it open..turned out one of the latches was stuck or something. After that I pulled the lock bar from the front latches.

Hope to see more of your restoration

Congrats on the buy! I am pretty new around here myself and I also bought a non running mess from an old friend. After about 150 hours of my own labor and a small fortune on parts I have a really solid car. Been worth every minute and every penny so far. This forum has been incredibly helpful as well as Mike and the staff from DMCMW. I look forward to reading about your progress. Cheers!

Have you tried getting in the car and using your right leg and knee to knock it open while lifting the handle. As long as the rods for the lock and the handle are still attached that should hammer it open. Idk you might need someone from the outside to push in on the front to eliminate some of the latch tension

What'd you have to do to get the door to to open?
