What is leaking here?

If it is the dipstick tube, get the rubber fitting for the otterstat. It fits perfectly in the hole. Seal it with RTV.

Worked flawlessly for me. No leaks since I did it.

Is the proper orientation the way it is shown in the photograph?

I've not started the project, but didn't want to get under the car to figure out I should have asked this question.

Just the way it is in the photo is how it should be inserted into the engine block.
