That's a former "new build" car that DMC-Texas resold fairly recently:

The boxed-in LCAs? Beautiful.
Cheap aftermarket headunit with a handsfree mic stuffed up in the headliner? Tacky.

It's funny the changes made to these cars that irk us DeLorean nerds. The head unit and microphone don't bother me; but the skinny rear tires and mismatched carpet colors drive me to insanity.

Honestly, it's not just a DeLorean thing. I understand budgets, but I hate cheap looking head units where the finishes don't match. Even worse with terrible installations. It is not that hard to mount the unit flush with the rest of the center console, even if you use a trim ring.
And why on earth would you just tuck the mic up like that? There are lots of cars on the road today with factory handsfree mics and their related overhead panels. Some even have integrated cabin and map lights if you want a single panel instead of a separate one. Tucking wires away like that just seems cheap and out of place.

The carpet sections on the kick panel speakers don't match, either. I know that those are aftermarket, but if they are installed during the new build process when the rest of the cabin gets reproduction carpets, why can't all of the materials be made to match up at that time? I have also seen pictures of a new build car that has dark carpets on the doors, but light carpets elsewhere. It's these sort of details that really should be right on cars at this price point. Or perhaps I'm just overly particular.

Sometimes a camera sensor picks up minor differences in light that we don't. What looks like a major mismatch may not even register in person.
